John Blake’s recent CCN article, “Why Young Christians Aren’t Waiting Anymore,” sparked a flurry of thousands of responses. Released in September 2011, the piece cited an article in Relevant magazine entitled “(Almost) Everyone’s Doing It,” exploring the sexual activity of Christian singles. But one finding, in particular, stood out from the miscellany: According to a December 2009 study by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, 80% of evangelical young adults (18 to 29) reported having had sex—just under the 88% statistic of unmarried adults overall. “Relevant theorizes about why it’s so hard for so many young Christians to wait, including the saturation of sex in popular culture, the prevalence of pornography and a popular ‘do what feels good philosophy,’” Blake writes. But are these listed sociocultural factors solely to blame? Or is there a concomitant reality at play here? Read more…

The Nebraska Supreme Court has granted child custody rights to the former lesbian partner of a biological mother.
Susan Schwerdtfeger broke up with her lesbian partner five years after the birth of her son through in vitro fertilization. She told the court that her former partner did not pay to help support the youngster — while Teri Latham, the former partner, sought visitation rights because she shared in the cost of the IVF procedure and had tried to visit the child since the breakup. It appears as though a lesbian mom’s partner takes precedent to the childrens’ father. Poor kids, especially, I should think, any boys in the family. I’m sure they’re thrilled by the new arrangement: lose your dad and get a second “mom.”

An official with the Illinois Family Institute (IFI) says it’s outrageous that a judge has permitted a mother to take her children from their dad in order to move in with her lesbian partner.
Recently Karen Kelsky, the ex-wife of Taro Iwata, took him to court in a custody battle. Kelsky has become a lesbian and was granted custody of the couple’s two children, and will also be allowed to move to Eugene, Oregon — 1,800 miles away from her ex-husband — to live with her lesbian partner. It’s pretty much a given that in custody cases the biological mother gets the child, right? So why on earth, in this lesbian custody case, does the ex-girlfriend get the child? It boggles the mind that people can be so selfish and disinterested in what is best for the child. Perhaps, as Matt Staver contends, this is a means of publicity for the homosexual agenda.

The clash in a Vermont-versus-Virginia lesbian custody case has found its way back into court. (See earlier article)
Lisa Miller was involved in a Vermont civil union with Janet Jenkins. The former birthed a daughter, Isabella, and after the relationship between the two women ended, Miller, a born-again Christian, moved to Virginia with the child. Jenkins soon sued for custody rights.
A Vermont court recently ordered Miller, the biological mother, to turn her daughter over to Jenkins, and Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel argued before a Virginia court that the Vermont court order should not be honored. Read more…

The Montana Supreme Court has granted parental rights to a non-parent.
For ten years, two women lived together in a lesbian relationship, during which one of them — Barbara Maniaci — solely adopted two children. But in 2006, Maniaci left her roommate and the homosexual lifestyle, and later married a man. Following the break-up, the former roommate sued for — and now has won — parental rights. Read more…
