Nought for your comfort: mixed rooming at US colleges

More American colleges are introducing mixed rooming, with Emerson College in Boston the latest to announce its embrace of what is known as “gender-neutral” housing. The Boston Globe says more than two dozen colleges across the country now provide or intend to provide this option. It is meant to make the students more “comfortable”. Read more…

LGBT students praise gender-neutral housing program

When Arlyn Katen ’12, an LGBT peer educator, read about gender-neutral housing in the Princeton Progressive Nation  last year, “It just seemed like a very far-off decision,” she said, noting that she was “very surprised” when the University announced last week it would pilot a gender-neutral housing program next year. “I’m really happy about the decision,” she added. Katen and other members of Princeton’s LGBT community have enthusiastically received the news of the pilot program. Read more…
