This year, the Supreme Court will render judgment on the institution of marriage. Though most of us don’t realize it, the Court first did so forty-one years ago in Eisenstadt v. Baird, a decision that gravely wounded marriage and set the nation on a course of gradual debilitation by ruling that states could not restrict the sale of contraceptives to unmarried people. With fewer and fewer young people identifying as pro-abortion, the abortion industry is attempting to change its image. But one expert says ditching the term “pro-choice” won’t change that fact.

Hawkins, Kristan (Students for Life)Nancy Keenan, the president of the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL), is stepping down. Case: United States and the State of Iowa ex rel. Susan Thayer v. Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, Inc.

Sue Thayer, a 17-year employee of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, Inc., alleges in a qui tam “whistleblower” law suit unsealed in Iowa Federal Court on July 5, 2012, that Planned Parenthood committed Medicaid fraud from 2002-2009 by filing nearly half a million false claims with Medicaid from which Planned Parenthood received and retained nearly $28,000,000. During her employment with Planned Parenthood, Thayer was a clinic director in Planned Parenthood’s Storm Lake, IA, clinic and Planned Parenthood’s LeMars, IA clinic. Read more…

Maine says ‘no’ to Planned Parenthood

Pro-lifers in Maine are pleased that their state is done giving money to Planned Parenthood.

With Gov. Paul LePage (R) signing into law a 2013 budget that does not include the abortion provider, Teresa McAnn-Tumidajski of the Maine Right to Life Committee says, “It is a great day for the women and unborn babies in Maine.” Read more…

TX ban on abortion funding reinstated

A federal appeals court has blocked an order by a federal judge in Austin, Texas, to resume funding Planned Parenthood.

Texas’ legislature voted last year to block use of tax dollars for medical services for poor women for any organization associated with abortion — meaning Planned Parenthood lost funding. On Monday, U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel, a George W. Bush appointee, ordered the state to resume funding Planned Parenthood, saying there is sufficient evidence that the law banning the abortion-provider from the state’s Women’s Health Program is unconstitutional.
