LaBarbera: ‘Pride parades’ akin to pornography on display

A traditional values advocate is urging communities to crack down on homosexual so-called “pride parades” due to their suggestive antics and crude behavior.

Meanwhile, the homosexual community is split over the purpose and provocative nature of the parades.

Invariably the parades feature homosexuals, lesbians and transgendered people appearing partially nude and performing lewd acts.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality has attended some of the events as an observer – not as a sympathizer, he notes – and says he sees a double standard in terms of enforcement.

“And so the question is, do homosexuals get to live by a different set of laws than everybody else?” asks LaBarbera. “If you’re not going to allow public nudity and public sex acts and lewdness in the streets for everybody else, you can’t allow it just for the homosexuals.”

In Dallas, police recently stated they would enforce local laws banning such activity but during the parade the only arrests made were for public drunkenness.

“I think that the police are still intimidated by the homosexual lobby and by political correctness, and I think they’re afraid to be looking like they’re stepping on the homosexual activists’ toes,” says LaBarbera.

The recent “pride” parade in Dallas split the homosexual community there, when some argued for a toned-down event because of children and corporate sponsors, and also because of the city’s public nudity ordinance.

An Associated Press story about the parade quoted one homosexual activist who questioned how the tawdry parades relate to demands for marriage rights and openly serving in the armed forces.
