The Husband’s Creed

August 20th, 2010

Considering the posts I have written on romantic love and on sentimentality, some readers of this blog may have the mistaken impression that I am unromantic.

This is not so.

Recently, I saw a movie, the movie featured the recitation of some poetry.  That got me to thinking about my wife’s upcoming birthday.  So, to honor this blessed event, I have written a poem in my wife’s honor.   I hope you enjoy.

The Husband’s Creed

This is my wifle. There are many like her, but this one is mine.  My wifle is my best friend.  She is my life. I must master her as I must master my life.  My wifle, without me, is useless. Without my wifle, I am useless.  I am…

My wifle and myself know that what counts in this life is not the dates we go on, the dinners we attend, nor the love we make. We know that it is the children that count. We will bear children…

My wifle is human, even as I, because she is my life. Thus, I will learn her as a sister.  I will learn her weaknesses, her strength, her parts. I will ever guard her against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my wifle clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will…

Before G-d, I affirm this creed. My wifle and myself are the defenders of my faith. We are the masters of the culture war. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until the victory of the Conservatives and there is no culture war, but peace!

If there are any men who are in need of a romantic poem for their anniversary, their wife’s birthday or for Valentine’s Day, or any special occasion, please feel free to use my poem.  You can even sign your name to it.  Just be sure to shoot me an email telling me how your wife shed tears of joy upon your reading it to her (just as mine did.  I hope those tears were tears of joy).  That would give me great nachas.
